LYCOPENE CONTENT IN SEVERAL AGES OF TOMATO CALLUS (Lycopersiconesculentum Mill. cv. Rampai)

نویسندگان

چکیده

Tomato (Lycopersiconesculentum Mill. cv. Rampai) is rich in lycopene, a carotenoid group compound with many biological activities, one of which as an antioxidant. Conventional tomato cultivation not optimal due to the susceptibility plants pests and diseases, even though need for lycopene continues increase. Plant tissue culture method can be solution production. Callus Rampai was initiated from cotyledons on MS medium (Murashige& Skoog) addition 1 ppm BA (benzyladenine) 1.5 IAA (indole-3-acetic acid). aged week four weeks were harvested extracted by maceration using hexane:acetone (9:1) solvent. The presence callus confirmed TLC (thin-layer chromatography) (retention factor value/Rf = 0.56) UV-Vis spectrophotometry (wavelength that gives maximum absorbance 472 nm). Lycopene content increased increasing age directly proportional growth index. highest level found 4 weeks, 0.3094 mg/100 g dry weight callus.

A rapid spectrophotometric method for analyzing lycopene content in tomato and tomato products

Lycopene is a carotenoid that has antioxidant properties and imparts the red pigment in some fruits and vegetables. Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) is one of the predominant lycopene sources in a typical North American diet. Current methods to assay lycopene content in fruit are time consuming, expensive, and use hazardous organic solvents. Here, we report a method by which light absorba...

The biosynthesis of lycopene in tomato homogenates.

It has been demonstrated that radioactive lycopene results from the addition of labeled acetate to intact, green, ripening tomatoes (1, 2). In order to study more closely the metabolic pathway involved in the formation of this carotenoid, attempts to prepare a cell-free system which could synthesize lycopene were carried out. Labeled mevalonic acid could serve as a source of lycopene carbon in ...

Effect of Post Harest Treatments on Changes in Sugar and Lycopene Content of Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum)

The present investigation aimed to evaluating the combined effect of post harvest treatments, packaging and storage conditions on the changes in sugars and lycopene content of tomato. Tomato fruits with stalk and without stalk were harvested at breaker stage and subjected for shelf life studies. The fruits with best harvesting method (fruits with stalk) were treated with chlorine by first dippi...

Impact of Application of Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles on Callus Induction, Plant Regeneration, Element Content and Antioxidant Enzyme Activity in Tomato (solanum Lycopersicum Mill.) under Salt Stress

The properties of nanomaterials and their potential applications have been given considerable attention by researchers in various fields, especially agricultural biotechnology. However, not much has been done to evaluate the role or effect of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) in regulating physiological and biochemical processes in response to saltinduced stress. For this purpose, some callus ...
